Hot and Sour Soup - Cappucino Cafe, Saar

What a letdown. Where should I begin?

First, it was a vegetarian dish. A point the menu FAILED to mention. This is the first time that I have eaten a VEGETARIAN ONLY Hot and Sour Soup. Other restaurants would ask you first whether you want vegetable or chicken but most of the times, they only offer chicken. So I ASSUME that the one from Cappucino Cafe is a CHICKEN Hot and Sour Soup (originally Hot and Sour Soup uses pork-but that's another story).

The soup was OK but it had too much bean sprouts - in fact I think most it were sprouts. Well ,it had other bits like carrots, onions, spring onions and tiny minute cuts of mushroom. Finding the mushroom in the soup was a challenge by itself.

The thickness was just right but I think it would need a tiny pinch of salt.

At BD 1.7, it doesn't really scream value for money plus I had better AND cheaper Hot and Sour soup elsewhere. It deservedly gets 2 out of 5 stars.

Hot Chocolate - Cappucino Cafe, Saar

Huge cup of hot chocolate with 2 smiley-face marshmallows, with a dust of cocoa on the top.

Perfectly sweetened - not too sweet, not too bitter. No extra sugar needed. Dunk your marshmallows for that extra sweetness and bite.

6 Piece Spring Roll - Cappucino Cafe, Saar

6 pieces of vegetable spring rools served with tomato sauce and chilli sauce. Normally restaurants would also serve special dipping sauce with spring rolls but anyway..

The rolls have kinda of homemade or specially prepared look, rather than oh-so-same-off-the-freezer-prepacked look. Looks good, and tastes good too. Its not too dry or oily. The skin is crisp and light and its not overstuffed. Veggies inside cooked just right, not too soggy or too raw.

As a starter, the portion for two is about right. For the price, quality it deserves a 4 out of 5 stars.

Broccoli soup - Cappucino Cafe, Saar

Soup was recommended by the waitress. First impressions, very nice presentation. The soup is in a hollowed hard bread, with the top cut off.

The soup had its consistency just right; not too runny, not too thick. Taste-wise  a 3 out of 5 stars.

Value for money : Not too damaging.
